The Mosaic. Local artist Kim Sayer of Magical Mosaics.com designed the memorial mosaic and ran a community mosaic workshop for local volunteers who wished to contribute to this mosaic piece. The design depicts Ilfracombes rolling hills, the sea, seagulls and poppies. Kim said “I wanted the mosaic to be colourful, to reflect Ilfracombes colourful community”. The copper poppies where also integral to Kims original design. Members from the community worked with Kim during a one day workshop but the whole thing has been hours in the making with Magical Mosaics donating this time as a contribution to the memorial project. Around the central stone and the edge are beach pebbles. The wording says ‘Ilfracombe Says Thank You 1914-2014’. Above the mosaic on the stone are three copper poppies, a gift from the mosaic artist.
Sue Garwood of Ilfracombe said, “The memorial is more beautiful than any of us could have imagined and I am sure the townspeople will be proud”.
The original wishing well was filled in, a standing stone from a local source later erected and Magical Mosaics were commisioned for the design and completion of the mosaic memorial.

Mosaic piece created with the pupils of Woodlands Park Primary School in Ivybridge, Devon to commemorate 25 years of the school opening. The school ran a competition for the design. It was to reflect what their school means to them. From all the lovely ideas a winning design was chosen and the final design based on this.
